Principals Message 25 March 2021
The events reported in the media, and that I wrote to families about yesterday is a source of concern and pain for many. I am conscious that, whatever I write will be the focus of intense scrutiny and judgement, so I need to be economical in what I do write.
To the students of the College: You have always been, and remain at the centre of the decisions made at the College. We know that, as you grow and explore your independence, you can present challenges, but to see the fine young adults that you graduate as is what sustains us.
To the parents: I am sorry that I cannot share more to give you peace of mind, but please know that as soon as I became aware of the potential for harm I contacted Police. I have been fully open with them and would like to thank them for their thoroughly professional approach.
To the staff: I want to acknowledge your own pain and emotions that the more than 100 of you hold.
And to the members of the Public: Our students are not the origin or source of recent alleged events. We ask all people, regardless of their personal views and opinions to allow the appropriate authorities to address the alleged incident and to allow our students, staff, and families at the College to feel safe and supported.
To each of you, I extend my apologies for what you are feeling and my assurances that I will not falter in my efforts in supporting each of you. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you feel the need. My door is always open and I will do whatever I can to assist you.
