This year has seen many things postponed, with no certainty of when (or if) they can be held. Year 7s have not been able to participate in their camp, however, I fully intend to provide an experience as soon as is practicable, even if it morphs into a Year 8 camp. We are well down the path of enrolling 2021 Year 7s, with Zoom meetings being very effective. Again, as soon as possible we want to provide an informal opportunity for those who would normally have attended our Yr 7 2021 Information Evening to come up to the College and have a tour. Similarly, we are keen to have the Year 6 students from Catholic primary schools come and experience a day at the College.
The success of the remote enrolment interviews has encouraged us to consider that, when we hold Parent-Teacher Interviews next term, we could offer the option of either a face-to-face interview or a video interview via Zoom or Google Meet. We believe that the remote option might better suit some families.
I did receive an enquiry from the year 10s asking about their Celebration dinner. I met with them and shared some of the considerations that impinged upon this event. I would like to share some of this, here.
Our Year 12s have not been able to participate in many of the events that form their 'rite of passage' through the final year of formal schooling. They were not able to be presented with their Yr 12 Badge and be commissioned as leaders in front of the College community. Their Ball would normally have been held last month, and the Retreat is uncertain. Looking ahead, there remains the end-of-year celebrations: Final Assembly, preceded by Breakfast and a Liturgy; and then the Graduation Mass and Valedictory Dinner. Given that we cannot predict what will be possible, I am looking to have a 'Just-In-Case' event as soon as we can once restrictions are lifted. I believe, a Year 11 & 12 Winter Ball is favoured by the students. Consultation with them will underpin what eventuates.
For the same reason, I am leaning toward a similar timing for the Year 10 Dinner, rather than leave it until later in the year when restrictions may again be mandated.

This program is currently assisting people who may have lost their jobs or had their hours reduced as a result of COVID-19, and are experiencing financial difficulties.
(They are of course still assisting non-COVID related financially affected people as well).
It is not a requirement that a recipient is receiving Centrelink payments to be eligible.

To help Australians respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, nbn is providing up to $50 million to assist phone and
internet providers to support low-income family households with school-aged children who do not currently have
an active nbnTM connection at home.
This funding is helping phone and internet providers create more affordable offers to connect eligible families
during term two of school.

From Fr Mike -
At present we are working on the 4sqm ruling which means that we can seat 70 parishioners in both OLOL and Ulverstone Churches. If and when that changes we will check out what a new number might look like. We are not in a position to announce when there will be any changes to our Mass timetable – as mentioned in my Ramblings in the newsletter attached we will make those announcements next weekend.
As we move back into our Ordinary Season of the Church’s year we return to the Gospel of Matthew and I will be commencing a new Message series called – All That is Hidden. This will be a short series but it reminds us that there is a great deal that is present in the message of the Gospel and the teaching of Jesus that needs to be proclaimed to all the world. You will have noticed that there are many new ways of communicating that have become available to us because of the Covid-19 restrictions and we will be exploring how we might move forward with some of these practices into the future.
I’m sure that there is much more that we could share but I’m about to travel to Penguin to visit one of our Parishioners who will celebrate her 100th birthday tomorrow so I’ll finish now and be in touch early next week.
