The last day of Term 2 for students is now Friday 2 July 2021 as this is no longer a student-free day. We had planned to hold our annual Staff Spirituality Day on that Friday, however, the facilitator of the program, Stephen Lawrence, is available after students have finished for the year.
The Student Representative Council has made Mental Health Awareness a focus for this week. They have begun each day with music, followed by "radio SBSC", information for improving mental health broadcast over our internal PA system. To emphasise the connections between physical activity and mental health, they organised all Homerooms to walk around the College on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and had representatives from Speak Up, Stay Chatty set up an information stall in St Mary's Courtyard at lunch on Wednesday. They will wind up the week with "DoNut Stress Friday", having arranged for 'donuts' (doughnuts) to be available at the College.
The College is also participating in the Push-Up Challenge from 1 June to 25 June, an initiative that "aims to engage and educate people in mental and physical health, and raise awareness of the mental health issues affecting everyday Australians". We are not looking to fundraise as our goal is to build awareness.
Last month staff participated in the 50 K in May to support research into Multiple Sclerosis, raising just over $3000.
Year 10s will be participating in the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) program next week.
If you haven't booked your tickets for the College's presentation of We Will Rock You, I would encourage you to not delay. Tickets are selling quickly.
Take care, stay safe and keep happy,
Frank Pisano
