Principal's Message 28 August 2020
In this week's newsletter, I want to draw everyone's attention to the SATIS Girls Tennis final that will be held at the Devonport Tennis Centre next Wednesday, 2 September, commencing at 11:00 am. The Collegiate team will travel up from Hobart for this final. Felicity Radcliff (Captain) and Eliza Hollister will be playing their last games for the College having been members of the NSATIS team for every one of their 6 years at the College. Together with Annabelle Radcliffe, Asha Ianuali and Piper Emmerton, a win for the team would be a wonderful way for Felicity and Eliza to end their representative journey with the College.
To take advantage of the home ground final, we are taking our Year 10 students to support our team. We have met with the year level this morning to share this news, and to alert them to the etiquette required of spectators at a Tennis tournament. I have every confidence that this responsible cohort of students will conduct themselves as we have come to expect from our students. They are clear that their role is to lift our team while respecting the opposition.
We were able to share other good news with the year level, some of which needs to be formally confirmed. I will include this in an email that I will send, directly, to the Year 10 students and their parents.
This continues to be an unusual year, facing challenges that require creativity, discipline, and a regard for the community over one’s self. Our vision to be a Catholic community with a generosity of spirit best prepares us to satisfy these expectations. We have a Covid19 Safety Plan that we follow. While it guides us on how best to keep our community safe, it also restricts us in what we can do. Another casualty has been our Founders’ Day celebrations that will be significantly curtailed this year. The SRC, however, are keen to have some form of celebration, with the College Captains putting some proposals to the School Leadership Team at yesterday’s SLT meeting, taking our suggestions back to the SRC.
We now have a COVID19 Response Plan to complement the Safety plan, with clear processes, developed in collaboration with Health authorities, to follow should a COVID19 infection be detected at the College, it emphasises that a calm and timely response will protect the community while not inducing panic. While it is still in Draft form, it has been approved for use should the need arise.
Keep safe, and I will keep you in my prayers,
Frank Pisano
