Friday 2 September is a student-free day due to the Office of Tasmanian Assessment Standards and Certification (TASC) Quality Assurance meetings that TASC coordinates to ensure consistency of results across the state. It will also be a very busy day at the College. That evening we are holding the Year 10 Dinner in the College's Genesis Centre. However, during the day we are hosting the 2022 "It Takes a Spark" STEM Conference, giving studenst on the North West Coast an opportunity to participate without having to travel East or South. You can find out more by visiting the conference website. Quoting from the site, "the intent of the It Takes a Spark STEM Conference is to bring together Students (Year 4 to 10) and Teachers to connect with inspiring industry role models, share their current school based activities and projects using an authentic sharing and experiential model, create networks of teachers and student teams, and solve social justice design challenges."
As the host venue, we can have 20 students from years 7 to 10 at our College participate for free. If you are interested in claiming a spot, email me at fpisano@sbsc.tas.edu.au and tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you miss out, or the student is in years 4 to 10 but does not attend SBSC, the cost is as follows:

Year 11 and 12 students are participating in their Year 11 Camp and Year 12 retreat this week.
We have Taster visits from our Catholic Primary feeder schools starting this week, and it is entertaining to chat with them. They are delightful!
Stay safe, keep happy and I will keep you in my prayers.

This week, Year 12 students attended their 2-night Retreat at Camp Clayton, Ulverstone, from Wednesday 3 August to Friday 5 August.
The Retreat provided the opportunity for Year 12 students to spend time as a group, free of the confines of their normal routine. Together students were given the chance to explore thoughts and feelings about the future – its uncertainties and its opportunities.
Students have shared a large part of their lives with each other in the year group. The Retreat provides a final chance to spend a significant period of time together. Social interaction with their peers is an important part of the experience which we hope they appreciated and enjoyed their time away.
Outstanding achievements by Year 10 student, Oliver Depaoli-Kubank, on winning the Alan McLean best and fairest award in the U16 NAB AFL National Development Championships and also being named in the All-Australian team. Well done!
Jacob Templeton ('13) continues his excellent swimming career by adding a new medal to his collection.
"This one is for all of those laps, the early mornings, the challenges, the sacrifices and the complete commitment that is swimming.
Tonight I won my first major international medal, and I am so damn excited and grateful for those who are in my corner and haven’t left my side. My coaches, my teammates and all my supporters behind the scenes.
Special thanks to Eloise Kennedy, Mum and Dad for coming all this way to watch me, love you all Bronze has never felt so good, now to cheer on the rest of the Australian Dolphins Swim Team and the Commonwealth Games Australia team." - Jacob Templeton.
Anya Louw ('18) competed in the Under-23 team AG Insurance-NXTG team in the Tour de France.
