The College uses the Reflex Technology Group (RTG) to manage its IT environment at the College. This provides us with onsite IT support through two RTG employees and an IT Manager who works across several schools to provide access to and helps coordinate the higher levels of support that RTG provides. This results in us being extremely confident that we are always at the forefront of best practices. Given the recent high-profile cases of data loss that are in the media at the present, we met with RTG's Governance, Risk & Compliance Consultant, Mel Gillies, on Monday. The purpose was to be proactive about how we protect our data. The meeting gave us comfort. However, Ms Gillies indicated that, like most organisations, recent events have led RTG to reflect deeply on what their current practices and procedures are regarding data governance, protection, and management. Given the agile landscape surrounding the governance of educational and student records, we were assured that they will continue to work cohesively with us (and all RTG-serviced schools).
Next week we will be visited by a Panel of four who will review all of our College practices as part of Catholic Education Tasmania's Validation process. This process also assures the School Registration Board that we comply with their standards. The validation panel will be onsite for two days, Wednesday and Thursday, with the public holiday on Friday, 25 November ending the week.
TASC Exams conclude this Friday. We look forward to the Class of 2022's final ceremonies on Wednesday, 30 November, when they will celebrate with the Graduation Mass followed by their Valedictory Dinner. Parents and families are welcome to join them at the Mass, with the Dinner for the students alone (with College supervision, of course).
Stay safe and keep happy,
Frank Pisano

This morning all of our Year 7 students and some of our future sports leaders spent the morning on the basketball courts participating in Jump Rope for Heart, raising heart health awareness and how to live a healthier life. The Year 7 group was challenged with raising $1500 which they achieved by raising a total of $1692.
Well done to the following students who raised over $100.

The Mersey Rowing Club runs a Learn to Row Program. It is a great program to do with friends or to challenge yourself to gain a new skill.
This is a five-session program designed to give an introduction to rowing both on and off-water and is run by experienced accredited coaches.
Participants do not need to have any previous experience and all ages are welcome.
You are not required to be fit to learn to row, however, you will be expected to be capable of light-intensity aerobic exercise and be able to swim 50 meters.
The first introductory session is free, if continuing with the Learn to Row program there is a fee of
$140.00 (to cover insurance, fuel, and equipment costs). If you complete the program and decide to become a member of our junior squad, the fee you have paid will be deducted from your Junior Membership.
Junior rowers compete at school regattas (representing their school) in their first competitive season (2022/2023).
What to wear:
• Important you wear a snug-fitting top with gym tights/cycle-like shorts. This is so your hands do not get caught in clothing when learning to row
• Layers are ideal as it can get chilly if you are resting for a period of time on the water, mainly while a fellow rower is learning technique
• Cap (for sun protection)
• Slip-off footwear is desirable for launching boats or an old pair of sandshoes
• Socks to wear in the boat
• Water bottle
• Sunscreen
• Warm clothes to change into after each session
If you would like to participate in the Learn to Row program and would like further information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact: Lesley Marshall at merseyrowing.sec@outlook.com
