Last night we gave our final farewell to the Graduating class of 2021. As I signed each of their Graduation Certificates, I travelled down memory lane, remembering snippets of their time with us. It left me feeling uplifted. They are now, officially, Valedictorians of SBSC.
Next week, staff have gone to great lengths to make the last week for Year 10s a mixture of fun and good information to prepare them for senior studies. Our Year 10s have been provided incredible opportunities, this year, in preparation to achieve the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE). Within Work studies, they have had the opportunity to complete a Certificate I in Financial Services that introduces them to financial literacy in areas such as Tax, Superannuation, budgeting, and similar topics. If they pass (which is almost universal) they will have accumulated 19 Participation Points toward the TCE. (Bear in mind that Year 11 and 12 Level 2, 3, and 4 TASC courses contribute 15 Participation Points). In addition, they were able to complete a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course for 1 Participation Point, as well as a Barista Course for 5 Participation Points. Finally, a First Aid Course is available for students to select in the options offered next week. Students who selected this will receive an additional 2 Participation Points. Thus, if a student committed to completing each of these, not only are they gaining important life and employability skills, they will already have received a total of 27 Participation Points of the 120 that are required to achieve the TCE - that is 22.5%!
This is a short week, so I trust people find a way to relax. Regardless I will continue to pray that we stay safe and keep happy.

The College Participated in the All Schools Triathlon this week. The event was created to allow all students the opportunity to take on a personal fitness challenge at their individual level of fitness through a healthy, active and social event. The event is completely focused on participation, fun, enjoyment, getting students active and providing an individual challenge in a safe environment. Well done to all College students who gave it a crack for the first time, and to the students who have more experience in triathlons for giving the other students guidance before their event.
